Cruising in the BMW 6 Gran Coupe
Driving the BMW 6 series Gran Coupe you can’t help but feel like you’re worth a million dollars and the Queen (or King) of grad luxury and style.
This is one big car, and I’m not just talking about it’s $200,000 plus price tag. With the 640i making use of BMW’s TwinPower Turbo technology the car races with 315 horsepower between 5,800 and 6,000 rpm and 330 lb-ft. of torque from 1,300 to 4,500 rpm. To say this is a beast of a car is an understatement. Whilst the shear weight of this doesn’t make the car sporty per se – it’s not meant to be, it is after all a gran coupe touring car. This is a statement piece for a discerning individual who relishes in being the talking point, whether at the water cooler on a Monday morning or the club of an evening or weekend. It’s the car that is the envy of all your friends – that is, if your friends love cars!
Driving this car for a weekend down to the Great Ocean Road was a perfect test of just what this car is made to do. Perfectly tailored for a comfortable yet responsive drive this is definitely the car to take on a lazy Sunday afternoon drive. This car also comes with a Bang and Olufsen sound system to ensure you are cruising in complete style, which I always am!
As I drove through the upper echelons of Melbourne society (Toorak) to begrudgingly hand this beautiful beast back to the then BibStillwell South Yarra, windows down and sun roof off, whilst rocking the latest tune Lana Del Rey’s “Summertime Madness” in crystal clear clarity through the “Bang” speakers, I was left falling in love with this ostentatious gem. As quickly as I fell in love, I was dragged back to reality and was shown back to my own little less luxurious automobile.
